Edgillin Magtibay Time Management as a Medical Student

As a medical student classes, exams and quizzes are not always easy to manage to all of this since I easily get distracted easily so this is how I, manage my time, balance my personal well-being and to still motivated through my challenges in my daily life

When it comes to studying, I usually prioritize the subjects/topics. If I feel like it is tough, I spend extra time studying it, since we have a hard subject in nursing, and it is hard to memorize all the definitions. For me to remember them all, I will just highlight keywords so that I can remember them easily. Sometimes it takes time for me to familiarize myself with the topics; that's why advanced study works best for me to have a long preparation for exams and to help me remember what I've studied.

Time management as a medical student is important because there are so many things to do like assignments, study etc. I use to-do list to organize all activity that I needed to do, set a specific time for studying, a little break, cellphone break I actually do a cellphone break because for me it is a simple reward for my-self for being a responsible to my to-do’s and also to rest to stay focused.

For my-self-care also it is important to balance yourself because it is not all about studying, sometimes to feel relax I play a computer games to relieve my stress and I only do this when I already finish my responsibilities or weekends, also I always make sure during weekends that I can sleep at least 6-7 hours of sleep every night to avoid burnout and unfocused.

Also, there are challenges. I always feel overwhelmed when challenges come, sometimes it can lead to sudden breakdowns. When it happens, I just remind myself that it is okay and I can take things one step at a time, that I can set small goals for myself, that it is okay to take a break and not to push myself too hard.

What keeps me motivated is remembering my parents of course and why I chose this course. It makes my heart so happy every time I have small or big wins; my family and friends are always there to support no matter what. Also, I can lean on them when it comes to my downfall. So, this is what keeps me motivated a lot.

Balancing all of this is actually hard and a big adjustment for me, so I stay positive every time, focus, keep moving forward, even it is just a small step at a time
